An Asteroid That Fitted in the Hand

66 million years ago, the Chicxulub asteroid changed the course of history. The object was about ten kilometers in diameter and caused a climate catastrophe that led to the mass extinction of dinosaurs and paved the way for the rise of mammals. But what if that object had been the size of a hand?
The age of dinosaurs would have continued, and the path of evolution would have been entirely different. Mammals would have remained on the margins – and what we call a human might never have come into existence.
This exhibition explores an alternative history and the significance of scale: how small differences can determine the course of all life. In her works, Laura Pakarinen layers glass and paper, creates spaces and distances where the relationships between time and matter become visible – like miniatures with moments placed side by side.
In these works, time is not a line but layers – moments that intertwine and overlap, forming a whole where the past and the possible meet.
